Come play in Crayon Power’s Backyard Atelier! This outdoor program offers young children to be immersed in natural play. The child-led, Reggio Emilia inspired curriculum aims to introduce toddler and preschool aged children to the feeling of wonder that exploring multi-sensory learning can offer, empowering them to explore freely, make choices, test out theories, and really be the creators of their own desires.

In each Exploration Session, friends (children) will find a curated rotating selection of provocative materials and play set-ups on our patio and in the yard. With the gentle support and guidance of our teacher, Ms. Kristen, we will mix up delicious imaginary foods in our mud kitchen, play with fairies in our grass, and explore with a variety of high quality materials in our open air art studio.

8:30–9:00  Young friends are invited to come explore our space. Friends can enjoy paint and water play, or simply enjoy the yard to explore plants, loose parts and natural materials.

9:30  Welcome Activity –  kids play in our open-air studio.

10:45  Time to enjoy free exploration time in the garden boxes, mud kitchen and yard! Several stations will be set up with open ended activities to explore.

12:25  Gather art projects and head home ’til our next adventure!

Family and Play Dates by Reservation:
Come bring your family to enjoy our backyard in a safe space away from the Covid-19 craziness! Allow your child to freely enjoy our sandbox, playhouse and gardens.
Grown-ups are invited relax, eat, or read a book as you enjoy a coffee, or tea on the patio. Grown-ups are encouraged to join in on the activities or work in our garden boxes. While the environment is designed to foster independence, our backyard is also a lovely place for families to relax and get to know each other, learning to share space and materials while reading books in the shade, feeding the birds, and planting flowers and vegetables together.
