Prospect Explorers Afternoons

Toddlers 2–4 | Drop-In Class
M T W H F 12– 3pm

A Reggio Emilia inspired cooperative playgroup for toddlers starting at age two created and taught by teaching-artists. We focus on growing through art, exploration, nature and play. 50% of our day is spent outside. Our friends learn together by participating in projects based on sensory experiences, art, adventures in Prospect Park and community involvement. Our primary objectives are to help children develop a voice, learn to express their thoughts and interact with their community in emotionally intelligent ways. We foster SELF-AGENCY and help the child’s brain to develop executive functioning skills, such as making transitions easily, feeling comfortable without Mom & Dad in the room, trusting teachers and friends, sharing and caring.

“We were nervous about the price at first but got a chance to meet Kristen before starting. She knew a lot about what Sara needed just by spending a few minutes with her. Kristen, Amanda, and Matt are all instrumental in not only Sara’s life but mine as well. They genuinely care about her and my well being. They have taught me a lot about how to interact with my daughter on a deep level. Since starting the class, Sara has improved in behavior and temperament. She is learning how to use her words for what she’s feeling and not have fits. I’ve learned how to approach her high anxiety with warmth even when the going gets tough. This place is a staple in our family and everyone close to us can see the difference in Sara.”
